![]() ![]() ![]() I am trying to decide between the following vendors: Mimeo or Milk Books – because they are both Apple-friendly and their apps would make it simple to populate the books with my photos on iPhoto. I have narrowed my options to a few vendors. I plan to make several albums – some fancier than others but would like all to have a similar feel and the ability to label the spine. The photo sources are varied including cameras, professional photo shoots and lots of iPhone photos. You are a photo GURU! I am in the process of trying to print out several years of family photos including vacations, graduations, you-name-it. ![]() I have seen several of your videos and am much more educated on the topic thanks to you. Thank you for your thorough and thoughtful review. Apple Photos extension: Select photos – right click – create – book – Mimeo Make sure to have the latest version of the app and Apple Photos for optimal workflow. When I first used the extension, it was a bit slowish but since then I upgraded my Mac and now it is flawless and very quick. If you are an Apple user and you keep your photos in the Apple library, it is very convenient since you don’t even have to leave the app and you don’t need to worry about exporting/uploading your photos. The Apple extension works exactly like the online editor but you can edit/enhance photos using Apple Photos’ extensive tools. It is very easy to use, with the drag and drop feature you can create a book in 15 minutes. If you’re looking for a scrapbook style photo book with lots of stickers and funky/decorated layouts, this editor is not for you. Add it to your basket and order it! Most of the layouts are very clean and minimalist. When you’re happy with your book, make sure to preview it, address any quality warnings like the red exclamation mark for low res photos. You can add/move text too so it’s a lot less limited than the Apple editor was. In the main window you can transform photos boxes, make them smaller/larger, change aspect ratios and move them freely. You can drag photos from the Photos tab, add basic borders from the Borders tab, add and edit text from the Text tab, apply layouts (single page or spread) from the Layouts tab and select from a wide range of background colours and patterns. You can change the book type or theme at any time during the editing process so you’re not stuck if you change your mind. In the main window you see the page you’re editing, in the bottom tab you can navigate and organise your pages and in the right tab you have your tools and setting. You can only do this from your computer or phone, Mimeo Photos can not access Facebook or Instagram at the moment. They offer 45+ stylish themes, after selecting one you have to upload your photos. You have to select a book type first, then the editor opens. Wish I could say the same thing. You can access the online editor from the Mimeo Photos website. Kitan67- that's great that you were able to get your book uploaded while still on Mojave. Each of my attempts to upload stops in a different location so I don't believe it's a specific photograph and this is happening to 2 different books. in hopes that might correct the issue but it does not. I have removed photos, removed pages, replaced photos, etc. However, the number listed for the image size vary with each attempt but the remark "so we're cropping to the original image size" remains the same. ![]() With each of these logs they terminate with a remark " 9 15:14:27:155 EdgeSharpeningFilter: 53 Sharpen edges produced a larger image (3470.0, 5198.0), so we're cropping to the original image size (3456.0, 5184.0)." The first set of numbers I recognize as being the date and time. When I open this "log" it is a string of computer code that is reading my photo book. The number "461" can change with each attempt and with each photo book that I try to directly upload. On a separate note after each attempt to directly upload to Mimeo I have a residual ".461log" on my system. And yet Mimeo continues to say on their website and in the App Store that Mimeo will work with macOS 10.13 or later. When asking Mimeo why one type of project goes through and another does not, get side-stepping of the question with a response to upgrade to Catalina. My direct upload of a much smaller project (Christmas card) went through with no problems. Update - I did the latest update to Mimeo 4.0.2 and it still did not help with my issues of not being able to directly upload my photo books (PDF will not stop load either.) My latest conversations with Mimeo support suggest my problems would "most likely" be resolved if I upgrade to Catalina from Mojave. ![]()
